10 March 2025 – The World’s 50 Best Restaurants announces the return of its 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship, in partnership with Parmigiano Reggiano. After a brief hiatus, the 50 Best organisation will be relaunching the esteemed programme in 2025 with even more incredible opportunities for the next generation of culinary talent. The 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship is open to chefs from around the world with less than three years’ experience in a professional kitchen or similar environment. The winning candidate will have the rare opportunity to experience two stages (internships) at two of the world’s leading restaurants, including El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, which was previously voted The World’s Best Restaurant in 2013 and 2015 and is now part of the Best of the Best hall of fame. The second stage of the scholarship will be revealed in due course. During the stages, the winner will receive a financial stipend for living expenses and to help them enjoy the host cities. The final three candidates will embark on an exclusive trip to Italy to attend The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony, taking place in Turin on 19 June 2025, where the winner of the scholarship will be revealed. Whilst in Italy, the three candidates will also visit Emilia-Romagna, the birthplace of Parmigiano Reggiano, where they will receive a private tour and gain insight into the production of the world-renowned cheese. Applications for the scholarship will open on 17 March via The World’s 50 Best Restaurants website and close on 31 March. For the initial application candidates must submit a short introductory video and respond to questions about their culinary philosophy, vision and aspirations, which will be assessed by a panel of senior 50 Best representatives. This will be followed by two additional rounds, including creating a recipe featuring Parmigiano Reggiano, leading up to the announcement of the winner. Applicants can find further information to help with their entry at 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship page. The relaunch of the 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship represents a pivotal moment in the 50 Best organisation’s continued commitment to development opportunities for budding chefs, and its dedication to creating unique experiences in the hospitality industry across the globe. William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, says: “We are thrilled to reintroduce the esteemed 50 Best Restaurants Scholarship for 2025. We look forward to receiving applications from all over the world for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone to accelerate their career to new heights.”

Nicola Bertinelli, President of Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, says: “We are proud to announce this exciting collaboration with 50 Best, which enables us to engage in meaningful conversations with young chefs, the future ‘ambassadors’ of Parmigiano Reggiano, who continue to discover new ways to enhance their dishes with the addition of our cheese. Parmigiano Reggiano is a true symbol of Italian excellence. It is not only an ingredient capable of adding a unique character to dishes, but a true protagonist of the table, thanks to its extensive aging process, which gives the cheese a vast array of flavours.”
